Bridge Install Live Stream
Monday, September 18, 2023

The City of Bixby is partnering with Premier Steel Services to install a new 34×38-foot bridge on 131st Street between Mingo and Garnett. The installation of Premier’s Fast Cast Bridge® system will take place on Monday, Sept. 18, beginning at 8 a.m.

After conducting a study of the bridge on July 7, the city determined the bridge needed to be permanently closed for safety. The bridge is located on a major thoroughfare for school bus routes, residential travel and emergency vehicles. The closure has caused significant traffic issues for area residents and businesses from South Broken Arrow to Coweta.

“Replacing the decommissioned bridge on 131st Street has been a top priority for the City of Bixby since we learned of its condition, and I’m thrilled to announce our partnership with Premier Steel Services to make it happen. This innovative Fast Cast Bridge® is a game-changer for our community, allowing us to swiftly address the traffic issues on 131st Street that have impacted our schools, residents, and businesses as well as many other South Tulsa County commuters,” said Brian Guthrie, Mayor of Bixby. “Sourced less than 10 miles away, this bridge is a testament to local innovation, offering a quality and reliable alternative for our infrastructure needs. Stay tuned on Monday, Sept. 18, at 8 a.m. as we witness the installation of this remarkable bridge, marking a significant step toward a more connected and efficient Bixby.”

Designed and manufactured in Northeast Oklahoma, the Fast Cast Bridge® utilizes a composite steel structure designed to last for decades, allowing for cost-effective installation and maintenance. The entire process, from grading to clean up, will take only a few days and installation will happen in a matter of hours on Monday.

This is the first Fast Cast Bridge® project in Bixby and is one of over 27 installed across the country. The innovative technology received a United States Patent in May 2022.

“As a lifelong Oklahoman, I’m especially proud to offer a quality and reliable alternative for bridges in our local communities,” said Andy Vanaman, president of Premier Steel. “After consulting with city engineers, we were able to build the Bixby bridge in our facility in a fraction of the time required to construct traditional bridges.”

The Fast Cast Bridge® utilizes a composite steel structure that is designed and manufactured at Premier Steel’s Glenpool facility and filled with concrete during installation. The bridge takes only one day to install, and the entire process, including site preparation, excavation and cleanup, is significantly less than traditional construction methods. The quick installation is minimally invasive to the surrounding area, and provides a cost-effective solution for tribes, counties and municipalities to repair failing infrastructure.
